Meeting Information

  • "Financing Water Infrastructure in California"
Patrick Wright, Director California Bay-Delta Authority (CALFED). Mr. Wright will address the most fundamental challenge in water resource management in California. How will we finance water infrastructure in the future? The options include fees, bonds and increased federal funding. The CALFED Finance Plan suggests the utilization of the "beneficiary pays" concept and provides a foundation for identifying benefits, costs, and potential strategies.
  • "Legislation and Leadership in Sacramento - 2006"
Kathy Cole (invited), Legislative Representative for MWD, will speak on the new 2006 legislative committee structure and leadership, potential legislation, and the politics behind it all.

Meeting Date Change

There will be no meeting held in February due to a scheduling conflict. We will have two meetings in March - the above meeting on March 2 and a meeting on March 23.

On a permanent basis, the Water Dialogue will be changing its monthly meeting date to the 4th Wednesday of each month (instead of the 3rd Tuesday of the month). The time of the meeting - 12 noon until 3 pm - will remain the same. Mark your calendars for upcoming meetings to be held on:

Wednesday, March 23
Wednesday, April 27
Wednesday, May 25
Wednesday, June 22
(and so on and so forth)

Southern California Water Dialogue Mission Statement: Participants in the Southern California Water Dialogue meet voluntarily to explore water-related issues of vital interest to our region. The Dialogue serves as a clearinghouse and advocate for projects, activities, and processes that will improve the quality and reliability of Southern California's water supply and benefit the California Bay-Delta Authority (Authority). The Dialogue also is an avenue to represent Southern California's interests to the Authority and provide information about the Authority to our region.
