Meeting Announcement

The Water Dialogue will not meet in March but will meet twice in the month of April.

Meeting Date: Friday, April 2
Topic: Delta Improvements Package/Napa Agreement/Sen. Machado's SB 1155
Speakers: Dennis O'Connor (Senate Agriculture and Water Resources Committee, Senator Mike Machado, Chair), Barry Nelson (NRDC) (invited) and Jerry Johns (Deputy Director, DWR) (invited), and Dave Fullerton (MWD).

The Water Dialogue will meet on Friday, April 2nd. The topic, narrowly defined, is the Delta Improvements Package. Add in politics and special interests and the topic expands to include the Napa Agreement and Senator Machado's SB 1155 concerning Delta drinking water quality. This hotly debated topic is very important to southern California because it could provide an additional source of supply to the region. Not all stakeholders support the package. Senator Machado and many environmental groups worry that taking more water from the Delta could damage water quality and the environment. The Delta Improvements Package is the first major implementation action of statewide significance for the CALFED Program and presents the significant challenge of resolving differences to the benefit of all stakeholders.

The meeting will be held from noon - 2 pm at Metropolitan Water District of Southern California headquarters, 700 N. Alameda, Los Angeles, (213) 217-6000. Lunch will be served at 11:30 am (RSVP to [email protected] if you plan on joining us for lunch).

Meeting Date: Tuesday, April 20
Topic: MWD Integrated Resources Plan
Meeting Sponsors: Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and the Mono Lake Committee

The April 20th meeting will focus on the MWD Integrated Resources Plan (Plan). The original IRP, adopted in 1996, provided the blueprint for numerous actions and investments that have helped maintain a reliable water supply. The Plan has been updated with the time horizon extended to 2025. The public and stakeholders are invited to attend this meeting to learn more about the updated Plan. This meeting will be sponsored by Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and the Mono Lake Committee and will be hosted by the Water Dialogue and MWD.

Please join us from noon - 3 pm at Metropolitan Water District of Southern California headquarters, 700 N. Alameda, Los Angeles, (213) 217-6000. Lunch will be served at 11:30 am (RSVP to [email protected] if you plan on joining us for lunch).
