May 20th
The Southern California Water Dialogue Group will meet on Tuesday, May 20 from noon - 3 pm at Metropolitan Water District of Southern California headquarters, 700 N. Alameda, Los Angeles, (213) 217-6000. The Steering Committee will meet from 10:00 - 11:30 am on the same date and in the same place (check with desk for room number).

Lunch will be at 11:30 am (RSVP to [email protected], if you plan on joining us for lunch).

This month's meeting presentation will focus on "Increasing Water Supply Reliability in Southern California." The Dialogue discussion will open addressing the issues of the Governor's Draft QSA Plan and its Prop 50 connection, Prop 50 implementing legislation, and criteria proposed for specific Prop 50 chapters.

This will be followed by an examination of different approaches to increasing water supply reliability in Southern California, including conservation, storage, transfers, recycling, and desalination. A matrix will be developed that compares capital costs, operating costs, local/regional cost-sharing, ease of implementation, project impacts, benefits in addition to supply, and other criteria.

In addition, the Water Dialogue will receive updates on:

  • CALFED - The new Bay-Delta Authority and its public advisory committee
  • Bulletin 118 and DWR groundwater grants
