On Wednesday, May 25th, the Southern California Water Dialogue and the Los Angeles and San Gabriel Rivers Watershed Council (LASGRWC) will hold a joint meeting at MWD Headquarters. The meeting will showcase Prop 50 Chapter 8 Integrated Regional Water Planning efforts underway in southern California. The southern California region, as defined by Prop 50, includes the counties of Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside, Imperial, San Diego, and Orange.

Agencies and organizations submitting planning and implementation grant applications are invited to make a brief presentation at the meeting.

John Woodling, DWR Prop 50 lead, will join us for the presentations. The goal of this meeting is to share information about the many regional planning efforts underway, learn how planning projects vary from area to area, and encourage collaboration and/or information sharing.

Presentations will be limited to 15 minutes and can address some or all of the following:

  • How the region is defined (hydrogeology, agency or other jurisdictions, watershed, political, etc.)
  • Stakeholders participating in planning
  • Processes used to create the plan (how the plan was drafted and how input was sought from stakeholders)
  • Types of projects being proposed
  • Functional areas being integrated into the plan (flood, water supply, water quality, etc.)
  • Challenges in regional planning

To PRESENT at the meeting, please contact Kathy Caldwell at [email protected] or 213-228-8235.

Southern California Water Dialogue Mission Statement: Participants in the Southern California Water Dialogue meet voluntarily to explore water-related issues of vital interest to our region. The Dialogue serves as a clearinghouse and advocate for projects, activities, and processes that will improve the quality and reliability of Southern California's water supply and benefit the California Bay-Delta Authority (Authority). The Dialogue also is an avenue to represent Southern California's interests to the Authority and provide information about the Authority to our region.
